How The Shepherdess's Comeback Starts

The opening of The Shepherdess's Comeback puts the audience inside the damage before anyone has time to explain it away.

Her sharpwitted daughter Mia Carter forces her mother to sign divorce papers and boldly proposes her mother to veteran sheepfarmer Eliot Miller, who has long loved Clara; rebuilding from ruin, Clara builds a thriving countyleading breeding enterprise, while her exhusband sinks into a miserable deadend life consumed by bitter regret. Clara Bennett spends three years scraping by raising sheep to fund her husband Lucas Wilson’s college education, only to be cruelly discarded by him once he lands a stable cityoffice job.

That is the spine of The Shepherdess's Comeback: the people in the synopsis do not get to pretend the story started somewhere else.
