Why I broke the bond after 13 years Lingers

After the last reversal, I broke the bond after 13 years still leaves the original choice sitting in the room.

Now, as I stand cherished and fiercely protected by my devoted fox mate, my former wolf is crawling on his knees for a second chance—but his pathetic remorse is thirteen years too late. After I poured thirteen agonizing years into saving a cold-blooded wolf who secretly despised me for my cousin, I permanently severed our bond and walked away.

That is the spine of I broke the bond after 13 years: the people in the synopsis do not get to pretend the story started somewhere else.
